A PLACE OF LIFE AND CULTURE, WITH AND FOR EVERYONE

HISTORICAL INTERPRETATION CENTER

The walls of Fort d’Entrecasteaux at La Citadelle in Marseille bear witness to 350 years of history of the city and its inhabitants, covering subjects as vast as urban development, military engineering and fortifications, the French Revolution, the imprisonment of opponents during the Second World War, etc.  So many founding parts of our city’s history for which many citizens and experts are bearers of memory.

In collaboration with anonymous people of Marseille, anthropologists, historians and heritage architects, we will work together to define the contours of a future historical interpretation center. An artists’ residency around the question of memory is also planned. The artist will use La Citadelle de Marseille as a subject for research, creation and production.
