Discover a place closed to the public for more than 350 years
ACTA VISTA can offer free tours within the limits of available slots thanks to the support of their sponsors.
La Citadelle de Marseille wishes to respond to the legitimate curiosity of the people of Marseille by offering them several guided tours. Over the next few years, the content and format of these tours will be constantly enriched as partnerships are formed and the project develops. In 2023, la Citadelle de Marseille opens up to the general public but will continue to focus on groups of young people from Marseille, aged 8 to 25, during their school or extracurricular time, to help them discover an exceptional heritage site located in the heart of the city.
Visits last 1h30 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They last half an hour longer on Wednesdays, i.e. 2 hours, because a participative workshop is proposed in addition to the visit.
The site of La Citadelle de Marseille is very difficult to access for people with reduced mobility. The positioning of La Citadelle de Marseille and its restoration according to the rules related to its Historic Monument classification unfortunately make the site very difficult to access for wheelchairs and baby carriages (very steep slopes and cobbled floor).
Some of the tours of La Citadelle de Marseille are co-created with the association ACTA VISTA, which has been conducting for the past 20 years, on this heritage classified as a Historical Monument, workcamps based on its restoration to allow people in a situation of social and economic precariousness to find a job and follow a training course leading to a qualification in the trades of the ancient building.
